Why Monnex™ beats ordinary BC and ABC powders

Most dry chemical powders are just mixed together. Monnex™ is engineered: built on a potassium bicarbonate–urea complex through a controlled chemical reaction, then ground so every particle is exactly the right size to unlock its signature effect — decrepitation.

Here's the science that makes the difference. As a grain of Monnex™ enters the fire, it absorbs energised free radicals until it hits a critical temperature — then it shatters in a mini-explosion, splintering into hundreds of smaller particles in an instant. Surface area multiplies almost exponentially, so the powder mops up far more free radicals, far faster, than any conventional agent. And because the reaction repeats with every fragment, Monnex™ delivers knockdown power that doesn't depend on the operator's skill or experience.

This is exactly why Monnex™ is the go-to agent for the fires everyone else struggles with: LNG, alcohols, ketones and esters. On aviation fuel, it achieves an especially rapid knockdown of the critical area where passengers and crews need it most.

If it's not “Made in England”, it's not Monnex™ — produced at a single dedicated Kerr Fire facility in the UK, under quality and environmental systems certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and listed against UL299C.

One partner, one system: Monnex™ + AISG foam

Fire risk rarely comes from just one hazard, which is why Monnex™ is designed to work seamlessly alongside AISG's firefighting foam concentrates in twin-agent systems — dual-agent nozzles, combined vehicle units and fixed installations that hit a fire with powder for instant knockdown and foam for securing burn-back protection. For sites already running AISG foam, adding Monnex™ means one compatible, proven agent range, one supplier, and one point of technical support — instead of juggling multiple vendors and guessing at compatibility.

Proven performance, less powder needed

Monnex™'s efficiency means less product achieves more — smaller extinguishers can take on bigger fires.

Where Monnex™ is used

Hand-held extinguishers — giving first responders on-site the power to stop a fire before it needs a wheeled unit.

Wheeled / trolley units (20–100 kg) — the preferred choice for high-risk process and storage areas, aircraft stands and tunnel systems.

Fixed and vehicle-mounted systems — installed on fire trucks with high-capacity hose reels or dual-agent nozzles, and at high-risk fixed installations such as loading jetties.

Rated for Class B, C and E fires: flammable liquids (petrol, diesel, oils, kerosene), flammable gases (propane, hydrogen, methane, natural gas) and electrical fires (fuse boxes, computers, transformers).
