HI-COMBAT™ Turbex

High-capacity high-expansion foam generator — floods large spaces with foam, then clears the smoke.

The Angus Fire HI-COMBAT™ Turbex is a water-turbine driven high-expansion (HEX) foam generator for large-volume flooding. It produces up to 200 m³ of foam per minute to quickly fill large or inaccessible spaces, using little water and so causing minimal water damage. The same unit also handles rapid smoke extraction, positive pressure ventilation and foam removal once the fire is out. Hexfire supplies the Turbex, its ducting and matching foam concentrate, with expert support across Central & Eastern Europe.

At a glance

🌊 Up to 200 m³/min of high-expansion foam — total flooding of cellars, tunnels, warehouses and mines
💨 Smoke extraction at up to 285 m³/min (7 bar, with smoke ducting), and foam removal after the incident
⚙️ Water-turbine driven fan — no engine or power supply, only a pressurised water supply
📈 By-pass system — keeps output up against high back pressure; foam can reach heights of about 8–10 m
💧 Adjustable foam type — 500–1,100:1 by inlet pressure and by-pass valve

How it works

The Turbex needs no engine and no electricity. Water pressure drives an enclosed, maintenance-free turbine, which turns an aerofoil fan. The built-in inductor draws in high-expansion foam concentrate at typically 4.5 l/min, and the forced air turns the foam solution into foam on the foam-making net. A built-in filter protects the turbine and inductor from solid particles in the water.

Because the air is forced, the generator keeps working against high back pressure, and the by-pass valve lets you trade output for expansion ratio. Use about 500:1 for flammable-liquid fires and general applications. Use 1,000–1,100:1 only for back-pressure situations and Class A materials such as packaging plants, where minimal wetting is wanted.

In smoke extraction mode, with the special ducting, no foam concentrate is needed.

Where the Turbex is used

Buildings and storage — basements, cellars, roof voids, cable ducts, warehouses, packaging plants and chemical stores.

Tunnels and mines.

Ships — engine rooms and cargo holds.

Industry — incineration plants and flammable liquid spills.

Outdoors — fuel spillages.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Turbex need an engine or electricity?
No. The fan is driven by the water pressure from your pump or hydrant.

Which expansion ratio should I use?
About 500:1 for flammable-liquid fires and general use. 1,000–1,100:1 only for Class A materials and back-pressure situations.

Can it remove smoke?
Yes, up to 285 m³/min at 7 bar with the smoke extraction ducting. It can also be used to remove foam after the incident.

Will it fit our Storz hoses?
The Turbex (A102071) has a 2″ BSP inlet. Adapters to your Storz size are needed – they are a standard fire-equipment item and we are happy to help you specify them.

Which foam concentrate can I use?
Any foam concentrate capable of high expansion works, including fluorine-free concentrates and those from other manufacturers. Angus recommends Expandol 3%.

How long does delivery take?
Typically 4–6 weeks (up to 8) from order confirmation, plus transport.
