Fixed LNG Turbex Systems
High-expansion foam generators for LNG and LPG bunds — fire control and vapour dispersion.
High-expansion foam is the most effective protection for severe cryogenic risks such as LNG (liquefied natural gas) and LPG. The Angus Fire Fixed LNG Turbex generators (FT1-500P/LNG and FT2-500P/LNG) are built for this demanding application: boiler-grade 316L stainless steel, an insulated water turbine and a reinforced foam-making net. They can be mounted on a skid for easy positioning on a bund. Hexfire supplies the generators, Expandol foam concentrate and system design support across Central & Eastern Europe.

How it works
The generators are fed with a premix of Expandol 3% foam solution. A water turbine drives the fan, and the forced air expands the solution on the foam-making net to approximately 500:1. The foam covers the LNG pool in the bund or containment pit, controls the fire and reduces vapour emission.
Optional 316L stainless steel ducting can supply fresh air to the generator and direct the foam into the bund or pit. The tubular support frame has drilled holes that prevent moisture build-up and relieve air expansion when heated. Angus Fire also designs complete, automated LNG systems, and Hexfire coordinates the project with you.
Where the LNG Turbex is used
LNG and LPG terminals — bunded areas around storage tanks.
Containment pits and spill impounding basins — fire control and vapour dispersion.
Gas processing and regasification plants — cryogenic spill risks.
Typical foam performance
| Model | Inlet pressure | Water flow | Foam output | Expansion ratio |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FT1-500P/LNG | 3 bar | 138 l/min | 82 m³/min | 600:1 |
| FT1-500P/LNG | 5 bar | 179 l/min | 100 m³/min | 560:1 |
| FT1-500P/LNG | 7 bar | 211 l/min | 114 m³/min | 540:1 |
| FT2-500P/LNG | 3 bar | 304 l/min | 155 m³/min | 510:1 |
| FT2-500P/LNG | 5 bar | 393 l/min | 196 m³/min | 500:1 |
| FT2-500P/LNG | 7 bar | 465 l/min | 214 m³/min | 460:1 |
Typical values at 18 °C with Expandol 3% premix. Water flow = K × √P (K = 80 for FT1, 176 for FT2; P = inlet pressure in bar).

Frequently asked questions
Why high-expansion foam for LNG?
A thick blanket of high-expansion foam controls the fire and reduces the vapour cloud above the spill. It is the most effective protection for cryogenic risks.
What is the difference from the standard Fixed Turbex?
The LNG version is made of 316L stainless steel, has an insulated turbine and a reinforced net, and has passed the NFPA 11 LNG fire exposure test. The standard Fixed Turbex is not for cryogenic risks.
Do you design the whole system?
Yes. Together with Angus Fire we design integrated, automated systems. Send us the bund dimensions and we will prepare a proposal.
