Respondol® ATF 3x3%
Our flagship fluorine-free foam: one concentrate at 3% for hydrocarbon and polar solvent fires – proven by LASTFIRE in fresh and sea water.
Respondol® ATF is a superior-quality synthetic fluorine-free foam (F3 / SFFF) concentrate from Angus Fire, designed to extinguish and secure all types of flammable liquid fires as well as Class A incidents. It was developed for emergency responders and industrial fire brigades who face many different risks: one concentrate, used at 3%, covers hydrocarbons such as petrol, diesel and jet fuel as well as alcohols and other polar solvents. Free of PFAS, 100% biodegradable and GreenScreen® certified, it is a straightforward way to replace fluorinated AFFF and AR-AFFF without compromising fire performance. Hexfire supplies Respondol® ATF across Central & Eastern Europe and supports your transition from first audit to commissioning.
At a glance
Why Respondol® ATF
EU regulation is phasing out PFAS-containing firefighting foams, and the remaining fluorinated stocks bring rising costs: contaminated firewater must be collected and disposed of, and equipment must be decontaminated. Respondol® ATF removes that problem at the source. It contains no PFAS, no chlorine or siloxane substitutes and no SVHC-listed substances, so it is not subject to the restrictions that apply to fluorinated foams.
Respondol® ATF is built on a patented combination of surfactants. Instead of a fluorinated film, it forms a robust, vapour-sealing foam blanket that rapidly covers the fuel surface, knocks down the fire and keeps vapours sealed in. On polar solvents, which destroy ordinary foams, it builds a protective barrier and still works at the same 3% concentration. One product in stock therefore covers both hydrocarbon and alcohol risks, which simplifies logistics and training.
In daily use it behaves like the foams your crews already know. Low viscosity means easy induction with standard in-line inductors and fixed proportioners, and it is used with air-aspirating discharge devices such as low-expansion foam branchpipes and foam pourers. It can also be used as a wetting agent on Class A fires and to suppress vapours on unignited spills.
Where Respondol® ATF is used
Oil & gas, refineries and tank farms – storage, processing and transport of crude oil, petrol, diesel and aviation kerosene; ideal for fixed installations.
Chemical and pharmaceutical industry – alcohols, ketones, esters, ethers and other polar solvents.
Fire and rescue services and industrial fire brigades – one concentrate on the vehicle for road tanker incidents, fuel spills and mixed-risk interventions.
Marine and offshore – meets IMO MSC.1/Circ.1312 and works with sea water.
Class A fires and vapour suppression – wetting agent for wood, paper and tyres; vapour-suppressing blanket on unignited hydrocarbon spills.

Switching from fluorinated foam
1. Audit – we review your current foam stocks, vehicles and fixed systems.
2. Decontamination and disposal – fluorinated foam is removed and the equipment cleaned in line with the regulations.
3. Supply and commissioning – Respondol® ATF is delivered and filled, proportioners are checked and set to 3%.
4. Training and support – your crews learn the application technique for fluorine-free foam, and we stay at your side afterwards.

The Respondol® ATF range
Respondol® ATF is a whole family of synthetic fluorine-free (SFFF AR) concentrates from Angus Fire, one of the world's longest-established foam manufacturers. All versions share the same patented surfactant technology that forms a vapour-sealing foam blanket without any PFAS. They are 100% biodegradable, GreenScreen® certified, work with fresh and sea water and run through standard proportioning equipment. They differ in the induction rate and in the certifications they hold, so you can choose the version that fits your risks, your stock logistics and your existing equipment.
Respondol® ATF 1x3% – see the product page for details.
Respondol® ATF 3x3% (this page) – our flagship: one 3% concentrate for hydrocarbons and polar solvents, with UL 162, IMO and LASTFIRE credentials.
Respondol® ATF 3x6% – 3% on hydrocarbons and 6% on polar solvents, for users whose proportioning systems are set up for 3/6% foams; tested to EN 1568:2008 parts 3 and 4.
Respondol® ATF C 3x3% – a separate fluorine-free concentrate, also used at 3%: certified to EN 1568:2018 parts 1–4 (low, medium and high expansion) and ICAO Level B, and usable down to −8 °C – ideal for airports and cold climates.
HI-COMBAT™ Portable Foam Uniductors – portable inductors with dedicated AR settings for accurate induction of all Respondol® ATF versions.
Frequently asked questions
Can Respondol® ATF replace our AFFF or AR-AFFF?
Yes. It is designed for the same Class B risks and is used at 3% on both hydrocarbons and polar solvents. We assess your equipment and plan the changeover, including decontamination.
Do we need new proportioning equipment?
Usually not. Respondol® ATF has low viscosity and works with conventional in-line inductors and fixed proportioners. We check and set them during commissioning.
Can it be used with sea water?
Yes – with fresh, brackish and sea water. LASTFIRE tests confirmed excellent results in both fresh and sea water.
How long can it be stored?
At least 10 years when stored correctly, and as a fluorine-free foam it is not affected by the PFAS restrictions.
