HI-COMBAT™ Mini Turbex

Compact high-expansion foam generator — floods a basement with foam, then clears the smoke. Carried and operated by one firefighter.

The Angus Fire HI-COMBAT™ Mini Turbex is a lightweight, portable high-expansion (HEX) foam generator built for rapid first-aid deployment. It produces up to 100 m³ of foam per minute to quickly flood large or inaccessible spaces, using very little water and so causing minimal water damage. The same unit also handles rapid smoke extraction, positive pressure ventilation and foam removal once the fire is out. Hexfire supplies the Mini Turbex, its ducting and the matching inductor, with expert support across Central & Eastern Europe.

At a glance

🌊 Up to 100 m³/min of high-expansion foam — fast total flooding of basements, holds and ducts
💨 Smoke extraction, ventilation and foam removal — one unit, two jobs
🎒 Compact and only 16 kg — fits a standard fire vehicle locker, one firefighter can operate it
⚙️ Water-turbine driven fan — no engine or power supply, works against high back pressure
💧 Minimal water use — expansion ratios of 260:1 up to 360:1 mean minimal water damage
🛡️ Robust build — 316 stainless steel cabinet, made in an ISO 9001 accredited facility

How it works

The Mini Turbex has no engine and needs no electricity. Water from the fire pump or hydrant drives a pelton wheel through four water jets, which powers the fan. Four more nozzles spray foam solution onto the foam-making net, and the forced air from the fan turns it into high-expansion foam. Because the air is forced, the generator keeps producing foam even against high back pressure, for example when pushing foam down a staircase into a cellar.

Foam concentrate is added upstream by a portable inductor in the hose line. The Mini Turbex has no pick-up tube of its own, so you can use your existing inductor set to 3%, or the matching HI-COMBAT™ Uniductor UNI-225, which is available from Hexfire. The Mini Turbex works with any foam concentrate suitable for high expansion, including fluorine-free concentrates.

In smoke extraction mode no inductor is needed. With the smoke ducting fitted, the unit moves up to approx. 100 m³ of smoke per minute, and its water sprays cool any entrained embers to prevent re-ignition.

Where the Mini Turbex is used

Municipal fire brigades — total flooding of basements, cellars and other hard-to-reach spaces, then clearing the smoke.

Ships — engine rooms and cargo holds.

Industry and mining — flammable liquid stores, cable ducts, mining applications and vapour control at industrial spills.

Fuel and flammable liquid spills — including sheltered outdoor areas where fuel spills may occur.

Military — first-aid HEX foam capability that fits any vehicle locker.

Typical foam performance

Inlet pressure is measured at the generator. With a portable inductor in the line (pressure drop typically 35%), the pump or hydrant pressure must be correspondingly higher.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Mini Turbex need an engine or electricity?
No. The fan is driven by the water pressure from your pump or hydrant.

Can I use my existing foam inductor?
Yes, as long as it can be set to 3%, is rated for 225 l/min and its pressure drop does not exceed 40%. If you do not have one, the HI-COMBAT™ Uniductor UNI-225 is the matching unit.

Will it fit our Storz hoses?
The Mini Turbex has a 2″ BSP inlet. Adapters to your Storz size are needed, and we can include them in your quotation.

How long does delivery take?
Typically 4–6 weeks (up to 8) from order confirmation, plus transport.
